About Marshall County Criminal History

Marshall County criminal records are split among the sheriff's administrative office, the Circuit and Magistrate clerks in Moundsville, the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau, the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and the West Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry. This private reference site organizes the official search paths, addresses, and telephone numbers so a reader can start with the office that actually maintains the needed record.

Why We Built This Site

West Virginia does not place every criminal-history record in one public database. Marshall County incident reports begin with the agency that created them, court charges and dispositions stay with the proper clerk, and custody information comes from the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Fingerprint-linked state histories are maintained by the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau, while registry data appears in the West Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry. We built this resource to sort those distinct channels and explain when the Marshall County Courthouse, Magistrate Court, sheriff, or a state office is the right starting point.

What You Will Find Here

  • Agency contacts: where to reach the Marshall County sheriff, local court clerks, and state record custodians
  • Official check steps: how fingerprint-based reviews run through the West Virginia State Police and IdentoGO
  • Record guides: how Marshall County court case records are found and read
  • Record-clearing information: where West Virginia expungement petitions are filed and which official sources govern the process

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site, not part of a West Virginia court, the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, a police department, or any state agency. Those boundaries limit what this site can do:

  • We do not issue certified court documents, rap sheets, or copies of criminal records
  • We cannot submit a West Virginia Freedom of Information Act request or expungement petition for a visitor
  • We do not perform official background checks or retrieve a record on someone's behalf
  • We cannot interpret a charge, warrant, disposition, or expungement rule as legal advice
  • We cannot promise that an agency's fee, hours, address, or telephone number has not changed

Only the office that maintains a record, such as a court clerk, the sheriff, or the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau, can provide its official copy.

Search Partners

Third-party providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. Each provider controls its own service, results, terms, and prices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee that supports operation of this resource. We do not set a partner's charges, produce its results, or turn those results into an official Marshall County or West Virginia record.
